    At the end of the program, participants will:

    • Have an understanding of the importance of having an emergency preparedness plan for business, schools or homes
    • What you should plan for to protect your business, school or home
    • What should be incorporated in an emergency preparedness plan

    Examples and best practices will be applied from the recent tornado outbreak in Washington, Illinois as well as the steps Parsons Company in Roanoke, Illinois took prepare their business and employees before a tornado struck their facility during business hours with no casualties.

    Speaker Bio:

    The program will be presented by Chris Miller, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS).  Chris is a 26 year veteran of the National Weather service, all in central Illinois.  He is a NWS coordinator with local, state and federal government agencies, mainly with respect to emergency services. He directs the NWS outreach program in central and eastern Illinois with businesses, schools, civic groups, emergency managers and storm spotters and leads preparedness campaigns for hazardous weather.

    Chris has been awarded several times by the National Weather Service for outstanding performance promoting severe weather safety plans for business and industry. He has also conducted interviews with The Weather Channel, ABC World News Tonight, and the CBS Evening News.
