Employment and labor laws touch every aspect of an HR professional’s job. Taking stock of new laws and staying current on developments affecting laws that have been around for years is no easy task. This presentation will address the recent passage of laws every HR professional should be aware of and will highlight those federal and state court decisions affecting your organization. Mr. Roesler will cover the broad range of developments affecting the HR field next year, including Illinois' Ban the Box Law, Pregnancy Discrimination, payroll cards and the U.S. Department's anticipated update to the rules governing overtime-exempt employees and developments under EEO and labor [NLRB] laws.

    J. Reed Roesler graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1979. His practice is focused on the exclusive representation of businesses in the areas of labor and employment law, wage and hour compliance, occupational safety & health, and related litigation. Mr. Roesler is an experienced practitioner before the U.S. and Illinois Departments of Labor, the EEOC and Illinois Human Rights Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Mr. Roesler has represented employers at every level of the state and federal court systems, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
